We have us some winners from WorldMicrobiomeDay 2019!

We are very proud to announce the winners of the competitions on agar art, fermentation recipes and the kid’s drawing competition from this year’s WorldMicrobiomeDay public engagement activities.

Agar Art

A beautiful sunset by Vasiliki Bukolil convinced our judgement panel the most:

However, we had a great number of submissions which were equally amazing and creative in the way they highlighted the diverse world of microbes and we strongly recommend you to check them all out on the WorldMicrobiomeDay website here.

The winner has been informed and will receive a special 3-D printed Falcon Tube Holder for his lab work!

Fermentation Recipes

Brendan Collins submitted an easy, straightforward, yet super-yummy Kim Chi recipe which made it as this years’ winner for the fermentation competition.

Find all recipe submissions in our little recipe booklet here.

Brendan will receive the book ‘The Cultured Club’ from Dearbhla Reynolds.

Drawing Competition

We have had some amazing submissions for the children’s drawings that can all be seen here. Special congratulations to the 4 winners Chloe (12), Conan (11), Elsie (9) and Oison (8) who all received a cuddly microbe toy!

Microbiome Stories

Researchers from all over the world submitted their microbiome stories. Emmy van Daele convinced with her clear, passionate story telling about the microbiome in poo!

Congratulations to all of the winners and for all others, good luck for next year!!!
