World Microbiome Day 2021: These are the competition winners! Finally we can announce the winners of this year’s World Microbiome Day competitions. Whether funny, creative, inspiring or original – we received many great contributions. So deciding on a winner was no easy task. We thank everyone who participated and hope to see you back next year with the same enthusiasm! And here are the winners: Drawing Competition for Children Since all the drawing contributions were unique and creative in their own way, we decided to award a book to all eight children who sent in their drawing. The juniors (5-9 years) will receive a copy of “The Gut Garden” by Katie Brosnan and the seniors (10-14 years) a copy of “The Gut Stuff” by Lisa and Alana MacFarlane. Showcasing your Food Microbe Hobby We called on all microbe enthusiasts to show us how they use microbes to contribute to a sustainable planet. In a very close decision, the panel decided to award the first prize to Nefertiti. Congratulations Nefertiti, you won a ASUS 14” Windows 10 Laptop! Second and third place are shared by thekitchenapothecary and Bijayanta Sircar, who will both receive a World Microbiome Day T-Shirt.
